BAILA Boxes at the Getty

Two BAILA Boxes, which I curated, are part of the official art collection in the library archives of both The Getty Museum and The Getty Research Institute, one in each institution. They are available for viewing at the Getty.

BAILA Boxes are hand-held or table-top art exhibitions. They are curated loose leaf catalogs of artwork by BAILA (Black Artists in Los Angeles) in small photo storage boxes. The images are professionally printed with the highest caliber archival ink on museum quality 4″x6″ fiber paper.

I curated these two BAILA Boxes as thank-you gifts to the Getty for their having hosted a roundtable with BAILA on November 4, 2014, which I organized.  Below are images of the submitted works I selected and included in the BAILA Box gifts to the Getty. One box contains photography by BAILA artists, and was bestowed to the Getty Museum Photography Library.  The other box contains images of BAILA artwork, and was bestowed to the  Getty Research Institute Library.  BAILA artists responded to an open call to submit images of their works for consideration. Images appear in artist’s first name alphabetical order.
