THE ART OF MOVEMENT BUILDING

I was a panelist in this discussion with Black Lives Matter at the Los Angeles Art Book Fair at MoCA Geffen Contemporary on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 3pm-4pm.

Moca Geffen Center

Black Lives Matter

Since slavery, art has aided, shaped, narrated, amplified, and galvanized movements for Black liberation. From Negro spirituals to the Black Power Black Arts Movement, art has been a cornerstone of the Black experience. Black Lives Matter follows these traditions using art both to amplify ongoing fights and to help envision a future where liberation for Black communities is a reality. The Art of Movement Building will discuss the why and how we have and can, respectively, use art to fight for freedom.   Panelists: Patrisse Cullors, Damon Davis, Erin Christovale, LaKeisha Leek, Lili Bernard. Moderated by Mervyn Marcano.
